About BiologyBiology is the study of life (bio- (means life) and -ology (means the study of). Therefore, in this class we will be discussing the elements that make up life in various forms. Get ready to explore the world around us, such as in ecology and botany. But, even more exciting is the world within us. Thus, we will discover the wonders of biochemistry, genetics, cellular biology, and anatomy and physiology just to name a few areas.
Below, you will find the many facets of Biology that we will discuss this year. |

DO NOW: What is the difference between a guess and a hypothesis?
WEDNESDAY 8/30 What is the difference between a guess and a hypothesis? How do we distinguish between scientific theory and scientific law?
DO NOW: Why do you think an experiment is important?
What is scientific inquiry?
THURSDAY 8/31 Review the steps of the scientific method, and add to notes in the journals. We will set up the scientific method foldable, and they will begin their foldables. Lesson 2: Scientific Notation and Scientific Tools.
DO NOW: NOS Worksheet 1
FRIDAY 9/01 How do we break a simple experiment into the steps of the scientific method? The students will complete their foldables with their own example of a simple experiment broken down into the steps of the scientific method.
